The most important thing to remember is that while yes, cloth diapers can be better for your baby’s skin and are most definitely better for the environment, they aren’t the be all end all of diapering options. Much like the breastfeeding vs. formula feeding debate, there is no one right way to diaper your child.  The most important thing is making sure that they are in fact diapered, and that they are kept as clean as babies can be. As long as that is the case, it doesn’t matter whether you use disposable diapers, cloth diapers, or let your kids go commando when they’re at home.

This is one of my favorite extra income ideas. Moms can earn a killing writing freelance articles during their spare time. I used Motherease brand with both of my kids. We used basic flat newborn diapers folded into a one-size Motherease cover for the first couple of months, then switched to Motherease one-size diapers in their covers. As they grew older, we added some Motherease snap-in inserts for extra absorbency. It was a great system for us, grandparents included, and after using them with both kids I sold them for about 1/3 of what I paid for them. The extra laundry just became part of our routine, the diapers and snaps were super durable, and I’m another who really enjoyed seeing the diapers hanging on the line to dry. Looking back I have fond memories of my kids “helping” with diaper laundry, having a picnic under the drying diapers, and knowing that it was the right choice for us.
Pockets are one of the most popular ways to cloth diaper. They are daddy friendly and daycare friendly. While All in ones and All in 2s are gaining in popularity (see the vocabulary definitions of these), pockets are easier to clean, dry faster, and are more customizable for your baby's wetness because you can pair different types of inserts (also called or boosters, or soakers...whatever you choose to call them).

That's why it's important for moms to find the right balance in their marriage and daily lives. There's nothing wrong with making the most of your family time, including creating gadget-free zones and making sure your kids can't accuse you of being distracted. But you also need to take care of your own emotional well-being and let your children spend some time away from you. Whether it's a date night with your spouse or scheduling one night off so you can have some alone time, you're not going to damage your child because you didn't spend 24/7/365 with her.
So to recap – scams are plentiful but not hard to recognise; finding a legitimate work at home position for a company is hard to find but not impossible, and starting your own company or joining a direct sales company is simple but not easy and not guaranteed to be profitable either. In the end, there’s no easy answer to what opportunity will be right for you. Just be sure to take your time deciding and don’t jump into anything, especially if you’re handing over your credit card.
You will notice in the picture that my top drawer has stuffed pockets on the left for my toddler, and a condensed assembly line for prefolds and covers for my newborn (these fit her better right now as opposed to pockets) on the right. Under that drawer, I have a bin of fitteds and a bin of larger prefolds. Next to the table, I have my coconut oil, diaper creams, wipes, wetbags, and various liners (bioliners and microfleece liners). You will find a system that works best for you.

I do have a partner who has his high school diploma and works full time but I on the other do not. I have been in and out of school forever taking my time but never giving up. I WAS just working for a couple of months on minimum wage when child care subsidy mailed me a letter stating they were lowering what they were going to help us with for child care and that my parent portion would go up. Thus making it worthless spending the time away from my 6yr old son and 1.5yr old daughter at a job I was not enjoying. I would have been working for nothing and the daycare getting very little of what they deserved.

Our daytime streets may be completely empty of children over the age of three, and four- and five-year-olds are basically “going to work” each day and returning with the grown-ups, but those are their problems. No one can deny that working moms and dads are happier because the burden of childcare has been entirely lifted from their shoulders. They can now rest easy knowing that their children are safely tucked under the wings of certified teachers in bona fide school buildings, with all the resources and assurances of the provincial educational system.

Like others have said, working from home is not always as great as it sounds. I am very thankful that I was able to work from home for a few years when my daughter was young but I am very happy to be back in the office again. It is really stressful to balance everything at home along with work and I really missed being around other adults. I no longer feel tempted to work weekends, evenings, and holidays like I did when I was working from home.

Allow me to be entirely hypocritical here. I actually really dislike the full-day kindergarten program that has recently been introduced in my province, and which is available in various versions in most parts of Canada. Yet even though I’m not a fan, it’s true that this program is popular with working parents and certainly does help to make their lives easier.

To help you weed through all the sites out there, we’ve actually written an article all about survey sites to teach you the ins and outs and give you several sites to get started with.  We’ve actually vetted these sites and know that they’re the good ones.  So if that’s something that interests you, I encourage you to read this article and get started making some extra cash today with no startup cost.

You can do the same thing with strollers, kids toys, etc.  One EXCELLENT item to flip is iPhones!  There are SOOO many scammers on Craigslist from other cities who list $200 new iPhones.  They are fake ads that want people to call them and then the “seller” will scam the buyer.  Anyway, enough scammers list $200 iPhones that the legitimate people in your city selling iPhones see the low prices on Craigslist and think that’s the going rate!  I  bought an iPhone last week here in Boise for over $200 less than the LOWEST used price on Amazon or eBay.  I could flip that phone for a nice profit, and there were several other iPhones in Boise priced similarly that I could do it with.
But the truth is that we are also different, and we like to keep it that way. It’s not just that we drink Tim Horton’s rather than Starbucks (although we do), or that curling is our favorite Olympic sport. It goes deeper than that. Life for mothers and families really is easier in Canada in a number of ways. As a Canadian mother of three young children, I’d like to share my top nine:

True, you can drop about $500-$600 to set your nursery up for cloth diapers, especially if you're buying brand-new pocket, one-size, or AIO styles. But Odom estimates the average cost of disposable diapers for two years at more than $1,400—and that figure is higher if your child potty trains later than age 2, or if you buy premium-priced, eco-friendly diapers.
Some things are worth way more then any amount of money. Regardless of what the world tells us we can’t have everything. I don’t believe you can be the best possible parent and work a full time job. I also don’t believe you can reach your full career potential and stay at home. Something has to give, and unfortunately when it comes down to it most people choose their career over their children (bring on the flames).

The game changer for me has been waking up earlier. I wake up at least 2 hours before my kids get up every day and get some work done then. I will also sometimes work after the kids have gone to bed (only if I have to, usually by this point of the day I am completely burned out and just want to relax)… I can also squeeze some work in by sitting at the kitchen table with my laptop while my kids are eating breakfast, lunch or snacks because I know they will be sitting still for a few minutes. I try not to use screen time, but it can be really helpful in a pinch! – Bethany | Mama Finds Her Way
This article is FANTABULOUS!!! Thank you sooo much! It is very overwhelming trying to sort through what may or may not be a scam on-line. This is the first time I have found information that seems promising. I am looking to be able to earn enough to support myself (I do not have kids) since health issues make it extremely difficult to work outside of my home. Keep up your great work!
