Since naptime is when many moms are tempted to cram in everything on their to-do list -- dishwashing, playdate schedules, laundry -- try to stay focused. "If you were working outside the home, you wouldn't be concerned with anything but work," says Durst. Concentrate only on the things you can't do when your child is awake. Aside from naptime, if you're a morning person, use the wee hours to get stuff done before the rest of the family wakes up. A night owl? Burn the midnight oil.
Be honest. When you think of work-from-home jobs, what comes to mind? Data entry? Customer service? While it’s true that some jobs just scream “work from home,” you might be amazed by the number of industries that offer flex-friendly positions. Although there are work-from-home jobs in practically every industry, the top fields for flexible jobs are medical and health, HR and recruiting, computer and IT, and education and training, as well as accounting and finance, government, and travel and hospitality.

Hmmmm I’m a work from home mom right now but there are a couple of these I’m going to try out! Why not make a few bucks while shopping and have the gas paid for? Or help someone out if I’m running around anyway? Plus we are a pet free home so the kids would love pet sitting once in a while. LOVE this list thanks mama!! =) hope some of these links work in Canada!!

I frequently post freelance writing opportunities here on Work at Home Mom Revolution. If you're not an experienced writer, you may not even read them. Even though you may never have made a dime from your writing, you can … Read More
That’s why I think it’s oh-so important to find your tribe. And, no matter what kind of work-at-home mom you want to be, your tribe is out there. And you can bet they’ll be there to support you on days when you don’t know if you can do it. They’ll help you keep going when you feel like you’ve got nothing else to give. Plus, it’s just nice to be a part of like-minded women who understand that the struggle of motherhood and work is real.
Many companies are now on the lookout for experienced and hardworking customer service agents. You may need some training but you can always answer the phone at home. You may have to provide administrative support with data processing or paperwork, or you may have to work directly with clients to help resolve any issue they are facing. Many customer service rep jobs pay you anywhere between $8 and $15 per hour, which is definitely a great start.

A wide range of businesses need workers to enter various data into their systems, whether that data are used to track inventory or shipments, create business plans, or measure performance or output. And since a computer and typing skills are the most important requirements for this job, many data entry workers are able to work at home, and on a schedule that fits their lives.
I did work for a while, and then I got married, but when our first baby came along, we couldn’t really afford for me not to work at all. So I started a small editing business from home, which allowed me to bring in a little cash and keep up my professional skills. After a while, I wanted more regular work, so I started doing online tutoring. I set my hours around my husband’s schedule, and it all worked well.

This is a great list! Some of these I have never thought of for the stay at home moms (and stay at home dads 😉 ) out there. I have done a lot of research on different ways to make some income and I am always amazed at the ideas I still routinely find. You mentioned working for Amazon. I know Amazon has a platform that offers some micro jobs you can do as well. They pay small amounts but if you do a lot they can add up! I also like Uber! But only for driving during the day. I wouldn’t suggest driving for Uber at night.
How to Get It: Begin with sites like UserTesting.com, YouEye.com and Userlytics.com. Register with multiple companies for opportunities to test as many websites as possible. Once you're in the system, you'll be emailed when testers are needed, and if you're one of the first to respond, expect to spend 15 to 20 minutes completing the test. Many sites require a microphone and/or webcam, which are built into most laptops—but if you need to buy one, they aren't expensive. The tester sites typically pay within a week or two via PayPal.
For example, though telecommuting is technically a “stay-at-home” job, companies generally still expect their telecommuters to be available during regular business hours. The following are the best jobs for stay at home moms (and dads!) available, which allow parents to actually spend time with their kids and generate enough income so they don't have to take in a boarder:

It’s not something you can really do from home, unless what you’re offering is home-based, such as teaching your “new friend” to bake or scrapbook from your home (not something I’d personally recommend). However, earning money to show someone the best local restaurants for a few hours or helping them shop for gifts isn’t such a bad way to make extra cash while the kids are at school! Some users claim to earn over $2000 a week full time, and others who just work on the weekends and make $500.

Also please note, I’ve tried my very hardest to confirm the accuracy of all the sources mentioned in the list. To my knowledge every single one of the jobs I’ve listed is legitimate. However, I’m only human and sometimes I make mistakes. If you feel that one of these companies should be removed, let me know. Likewise, if you’ve had an awesome experience with a company that hasn’t made it on the list let me know in the comments and I’ll add it.

It seems some people took the opportunity to turn this wonderful article into a market campaign for themselves. I’m sorry to see that – but am wise enough to know it happens. Some of the replies are legitimate, trying to help other people who are interested in making money at home. Other replies are marketing their own at home business – pyramid style businesses. Thank you to Alexa for writing this and to many others that offered additional help in their reply. I work full time right now outside the home, but I need some extra income to help with some unexpected expenses that have come up. Thank you again – I hope all of you looking find/or have found something to help.

While skipping office drama (and drinks with co-workers) seems like a trip to Disneyland, one must not forget that the office can be an idea oasis. Your co-workers got their jobs for a reason. Many of them have great ideas and diverse perspectives. Without little side chats in the hallways or water cooler talks, it’s possible that moms who work solely at home miss out on key conversations that could spark their creativity.
Sunday, June 16th is Father’s Day. Here at FlexJobs, we are honoring all the dads out there with positions that allow them to work at home from anywhere in the United States. Renee Belbeck, a WAHM from Columbus, Ohio, and C.E.O. and founder of the National Association of W.O.M.E.N. (Women, Owners, Moms, Entrepreneurs, and Networkers), discovered a simple rule when her children were toddlers: "If I gave them a little quality time, I'd get two hours to work." She says the rule still holds true, even though her children are now 10 and 6.
How to Get It: Customer service is the biggest work-at-home field, with companies including Spiegel, Hilton, Best Western, HSN, 1-800-FLOWERS and many others using at-home reps. Fill out an application with staffing companies such as Arise, Alpine Access, VIPdesk, LiveOps, and Convergys, all of which vet the companies who are hiring through them. If you need benefits, search through a staffing company that will hire you as an employee (Alpine Access, VIPdesk and Convergys do this) rather than an independent contractor. If you're a contractor, you may be asked to pay a small fee (between $15 and $35) for a background check. While a fee can be a sign of a scam, independent contractors are responsible for their own expenses.
After reading this blog I decided to try one of the places – Clickworker – thought it was right up my alley. I assume these are legit online businesses, but unfortunately, as soon as I signed up with all my information – my Facebook account was hacked! I’m concerned as to what else might happen, but hoping that was it and my account at Clickworker was closed fast enough. Just be careful….
Deanne Akerson: As a maternity and breastfeeding apparel brand, our customers are moms. Our team of work-from-home-moms are uniquely positioned to deliver an incredible customer experience simply because they’re moms themselves, and they understand the needs of our customers perfectly! They know what it’s like to be pregnant, breastfeeding, sleep-deprived, because they have been there so recently themselves. This is a benefit to the company in so many ways; from knowing what kind of content creation to focus on, what new apparel products to make next, and how to interact on social media. It simply makes sense to employ work-from home moms who are also experiencing the same crazy, beautiful life stage as our customers.

Get paid to do various tasks around town for clients. Assignments at Field Agent usually involve checking prices, scanning barcodes with your mobile phone, and conducting surveys. Your earnings vary and depend on the assignment and locction. For example, one listing offers $9 for 4 pictures of any products in the toothbrush section at your local Target, while another pays $5 for one picture of a $19.99 & under game display from any Toys “R” Us.
If you listen to music all day like I do, you’ll love this program. All you need to do is listen to unsigned bands and artists online and submit a review at Slicethepie. Active users with high reputations are earning an extra $50+ per month for just 5-10 min a day listening to some aspiring music talents. It may not seem much, but stick it in a savings account and that’s $50 more than what you had before!
This is one of my favorite extra income ideas. Moms can earn a killing writing freelance articles during their spare time. You don't have to be an English expert or have a journalism background either. There are plenty of successful blogs and businesses looking to hire writers to share their personal experiences. Some of these sites will even pay you upfront for your articles which is great if you're looking to make some quick cash.
Great list! I have been a stay at home Mom for going on 4 years now. It is absolutely a sacrifice, both emotionally and financially to do so. I started looking into ways I could supplement our income, since my husband gets paid monthly. I do before/after school care most days, then during my free time I float between Amazon mturk and Swagbucks. Neither will make you rich quick.
