If you are a stay at home mum, then this is a great business to leverage on. You may consider learning the art of painting the nails, fixing artificial nails, as well as generally being up to speed with the art of nail beautification. This is also a type of business that a working class mum can start too. However, this means that if you are a working class mum, you may want to employ an expert who renders the services to the women that comes there.

Do you love being around dogs but can’t commit to having one of your own? There is a big demand for dog walking for people who work long hours away from the home as well as dog sitting for when dog owners go out of town. This would give you and your kids the perfect opportunity to have fun with a four-legged friend without having to adopt one of your own.
Publishing is dead; long live the e-reader! Now that anyone can have their work e-published, it is possible for anyone to make a fortune off their writing. The biggest recent example is the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy, but there are many authors taking advantage of the ease of e-publishing. If you love to write and are willing to do your own promotion (and having a blog can really help in that case), writing an e-book is an excellent way to make money at home.

Gift shopping and building remain a position at some companies to this day. A lot of people need to put together gifts baskets and bags for events or as thank yous for clients and donors. This work requires a lot of creativity and inspiration. Fun and festive packaging sells a lot of the contents and having time to research recipients to tailor offerings to their tastes are a bonus.

If you are looking to start a business, and do not have an inkling about what might be the best bet for you to follow, then you may want to read on with rapt attention, a whole lot of business ideas that you can start- whether you are a stay at home mum, working class mother who is looking for a part time job to start on, and what have you. Now, let us look at 50 profit assured business ideas that women can engage in. Here they are:
According to a report published by the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food in Canada, the jam and preserve industry in the United States brings in over $1 billion annually. Most impressively, it’s grown steadily -- even through the Great Recession. The market for jams, jellies, and preserves is strong, growing, and has many opportunities for new start-ups.
As long as you can follow directions and catch on quickly, data entry work is a breeze and you can do it at home. SigTrack offers seasonal data entry jobs from home. The tasks involve keying in voter registration and petition forms. You just need to make sure you meet a few technical requirements when it comes to having the right equipment for the job.
Mechanical Turk operates much like TaskRabbit and GigWalk: it’s a corner online where Amazon gathers tasks to be done, people willing to do them, and people willing to pay for them. On Mechanical Turk, you get to do the oddest jobs you can imagine as an online business idea, made possible by a parallel online universe that runs on hits, visits, surveys, reviews, pins, likes, CPCs, reads, and other metrics. But don’t get too ambitious. The small sums being paid out to human Mechanical Turk users rarely add up to anything seriously substantial, even if you invest most of your spare time into it. It's a better opportunity for internationally-based people with internet access and lower costs of living than in the US. Here’s one person’s account of his former life as a Mechanical Turk talking through how he got started with  this business idea and what the experience was really like.
This business is great for those who like to work at their own schedule and pace. While certain transcription services, such as court reporter, may require stricter scheduling requirements, most of the work involves transcribing audio or video that has been provided to you. As such, the job is also ideal for those who type fast and are comfortable using computers and other related software and technology.
If you’re a fitness buff and have the right combination of charisma and business sense, working as a part-time personal trainer as a side business idea can be both physically and financially rewarding. Once you build up a reputation and client base for yourself, it could easily turn into a full-time endeavor for you. Check out these tips to a successful personal training business by the American Fitness Professionals and this interview with several fitness blog owners who are making a living online, from MonetizePros. Finally, I'd recommend checking out this resource if you want to take this business idea seriously and get started with a business plan for your personal fitness trainer business today.
For this article, I interviewed eight work-at-home moms who have worked full-time at home with kids ranging from newborn age to six. One mom has kids ranging from one to fourteen, but we focused on handling the younger years. In addition to working at home full-time, these ladies were also the primary caregivers to their kids. Some used part-time daycare or a babysitter a few hours a week to stay sane, but the majority of the time they are juggling their children and their jobs simultaneously. Hats off to them!
This is so great! I am going to try to implement ‘leaning in’ and sleeping earlier once I cut back my hours. I am working 40 hours at home and my son is about to turn one. It has been pretty horrid, but I just work late into the nights. The stress comes from being accountable to my co-workers and of course my son at the same time. To say nothing of the house, which is messy about 3-4 days of the week 🙁 I’m so glad you said working full time isn’t a great idea… it really isn’t and I wouldn’t recommend it to any mom, no matter how fulfilling the work is. (Side note; grad student hubs is home some of the day, and he does a ton of ‘child care’ – I mean wrestling and silly games 🙂
If you love meeting new people and helping them use the latest gadgets or products, you may want to consider a direct sales business. All the products are picked out, you are given all the marketing materials you need, and you’ll have the support of other people who are doing the same thing. Some of the more popular businesses for this idea include: Avon, Mary Kay, Passion Parties and The Pampered Chef.
If you have got very flexible muscles, and a great dancer; then you may want to consider teaching people how to dance. These day, more than ever in the world, there is the need to be able to dance- be it for social reasons, and commercial purposes. This is one of the reasons why you may want to take up this business seriously if you have the knack. This is a good business idea for stay at home mums, as well as working class ones.

Dog watching. One of the best jobs for stay at home moms who love their four-legged friends.  Rover.com matches dog owners who need pet sitting with pet lovers who want to help. Create your profile and set your prices. Must be in a city populated enough to find business, but the potential to earn hundreds of dollars per month is there. (Heather in Seattle nets $500 to $1000 per month this way.)
This business idea will take a little more effort and website design knowledge than my Etsy Store example, as you will have to purchase your own suitable domain name or use a Blog domain already, then install the Shopify App onto your WordPress site, decide on how you will fulfill your products (Drop shipper or Warehouse/purchasing online then shipping to customer); and managing any customer experience issues.
This is a job with much potential, in part because the title description covers many things. “You can fit your offerings to what you know how to do,” says Stephanie Foster, a former medical transcriptionist who runs the website HomeWithTheKids.com. One can own a virtual assistant business or work from home for a company that makes you available to other employers or clients. HomeWithTheKids.com, for example, currently features several such companies.
The most difficult period of a small business’s lifespan is typically the beginning. Most of the time, things are slow to start, and it takes a huge investment of money and time to get going. It helps to set a few milestones you can look forward to. For instance, acquiring all the supplies and software you will need for your operations. You may be surprised how much there is you need, even if your business is mostly digital. For instance, ecommerce store owners have to pick an electronic payment system that helps them reach new audiences while improving both purchasing efficiency and payment security.
Hi all: I'm ready to move on from my current role as a marketing strategist at a global media company. I'd like to stay with a publisher, rather than going to an agency or flipping over to the client side. I'm flexible on large vs. small, scrappy and entrepreneurial vs. longstanding titans, "fun" brand (like Well + Good, Refinery29, Buzzfeed) vs. more cerebral (Vox, The Atlantic). What I'm most focused on is a place that will respect me as an individual who is balancing a family, and also, offers solid maternity benefits (since we'll eventually try for #2). Mamas who are at other publishers and/or are in media: would you recommend your employer, based on how it stacks up against other media companies, how they treat their female/working mom employees, and the benefits that they offer? Thoughts welcome and appreciated!
If you own a car but barely use it, you can make some easy cash as an effortless side business idea by renting it out on Turo. Before you freak out, know that there’s a $1 Million insurance policy on all cars, plus drivers are prescreened, so you can have peace of mind. Closely related to renting out your car is another new service I recently came across (available only in the UK at the moment) called YourParkingSpace where you can sign up to list your available parking space through the app, and earn when people decide to use your spot.
I worked from home as a freelancer after the birth of my first child, until the day my second child was born, using many of the strategies and structures you suggest. Getting housework, eating, and showering done during baby’s waking hours was huge. With two little ones I knew it was going to be too much for me, and having low expenses compared to our income allowed us to forego a second income for this season. I am very grateful for this because I know personally, I’d be very stressed out by trying to work with these two in the mix! I still get to write here and there, but without too many deadlines, and use free time more for volunteering and family recreation. It’s so important what you say about accepting each season and the constant changes that come with parenting.

Hi Patrick, thanks for the comment. You can start by looking in to some opportunities listed on this post. Then, you may want to set up a professional website for yourself to market your services. If you have experience in a particular field, you can start yourself to potential clients. If you don’t have any experience, you may want to do a few jobs for free to build up enough experience to improve your chances of getting hired. Good luck!
And again, the easiest place to start looking is you. What markets or industries do you know? What are you passionate about? For example, do you love dogs? Maybe you’ve realised that there isn’t a one-stop online shop for dog supplies and accessories? Could there be a need for one? You already understand the target market, so it wouldn’t be hard to start researching.

You'd have to be living under a rock not to know about the success many moms have had in making money blogging. That's the good news. The bad news is that the market for any blog, mom-related or not, is crowded. Successful blogging requires picking a niche and focusing on reaching the target market for that topic. There are many ways to make money from blogging, including affiliate marketing, advertising (i.e., Adsense), creating and selling information products and more.
If you had a knack for standardized tests and had no trouble acing the SAT, ACT or other college exams, why not start tutoring high schoolers as a side business idea? Parents of all economic backgrounds are more than willing to shell out upwards of $100/hr to the right tutor, if it means their son or daughter will get admitted to the college or university of their choice. See this quick checklist for starting an SAT tutoring business from the Work At Home Mom. Whitney over at Rookiemoms also has a cool story to share about a stay-at-home mom making $40/hr helping kids out with homework and turning it into a profitable side business idea.

If you have a talent for helping people look their best, and know how to mesmerize with eyeliners and turn heads with lipsticks, consider using your beauty skills to pursue this easily profitable side business idea. For under $2000, you can start your own make-up artist business which can make for the foundation of a potentially lucrative side business idea that turns a profit largely by referrals and word-of-mouth from your happy customers.
The music industry all over the world can never be over saturated. This is because of the fact that as long as one has the talent and is able to whip up great music, then the door is broad. As such, if you have the talent, then you may want to consider being a recording artiste. This is a type of business that can be started by a stay at home mum, or a working class one.

As a mom, you surely have special skills and hobbies that you love. Find out what your special talents and passion are, share them with others and earn. For instance, if you are a good singer, share your singing skills and offer singing lessons to kids. If you are good at dancing, you can launch a special dancing class every weekend in your yard. Invite your children’s classmates and your neighbors to become your first students.
If you have the gift of gab, public speaking is a worthwhile side business idea for you to pursue. Many authors, medical practitioners, scientists, artisans, politicians, and other subject matter experts earn extra income by delivering speeches, seminars, and presentations. Professional motivational speakers earn an average annual salary of around $90,000 with just that portion of their income, making this a very realistic side business idea while you continue practicing your craft.
We chose this schedule because I wanted to quit my 9-to-5 and be the primary caregiver. While this might, at first blush, appear to conform to traditional gender roles, I assure you nothing about our relationship is conservative or regressive. Mr. FW and I are both feminists committed to an egalitarian partnership and it was my express desire to transition into this role.
Those who are fluent in more than one language can translate recordings or documents. If you are fluent in in-demand languages such as Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, French, Italian etc you can find plenty of translation jobs online. There are many legitimate translation agencies or companies that hire home-based translators across the world. When translating documents or audio files, translators do not just translate word for word but often take cultural differences in mind to convey the messages properly to their clients’ targeted audience. If you are familiar with terminology in a technical or scientific area, you can earn significantly higher income providing translation services as an employee or freelance translator.

For me and my kids, this wouldn't even be possible with a nanny, I think! I do work from home and a lot of people tell me when I mention that I telecommute that it must be great to be able to work from home and be with my kids. When I tell them my kids go to daycare, they look at me like they don't understand this concept at all. There is absolutely no way I would get 8 hours of work into a day at home with my kids, even if someone else takes care of them! Ymmv.

Obviously, this business is ideal for veteran, practicing artists. It is also educational in nature, so it is good for those who have formal or informal experience with being a teacher or teacher's assistant. Finally, it's a job that is best for a “people person,” as your entire business model revolves around prolonged contact with strangers, so being able to engage and connect with them immediately is crucial.

Do you love being around dogs but can’t commit to having one of your own?
