A proofreader reviews the written word in its various forms for clients and corrects for spelling, punctuation, and typos. To start a proofreading business, you must have a strong command of language usage, spelling, and punctuation. Depending on your clientele, you might be reviewing and correcting the language used in books, magazine articles, web content, ads, packaging, student assignments, or virtually any other vehicle of written communication.
It definitely depends on the kid! Our first was a non-sleeper too and there is just no way to work around that. We tried everything, every book, every method someone suggested but to no avail. She just didn’t need sleep (and at 11, still needs less than other kids). Our second is like Babywoods though in terms of routine naps and early bedtime, and I tend to think that that’s more the norm (or at least I hope so!). You can totally work around a kid like that.

I’ve balanced working from home whIle parenting and these are great suggestions. I’ll echo the other commenter that the ease of such arrangements is definitely impacted by the temperament and stage of life of the child. I’ve also found that I struggle with guilt and judging myself if I don’t accomplish as much as I planned during nap time. I’m trying to embrace that sometimes it’s okay to be still and read a book or zone out on my phone for 20 minutes or fold laundey while watching an old episode of Golden Girls if that’s what I need to do to recharge for an afternoon with an active two year old.
Are you persistent? Detail oriented? Marketing Assistants help with tasks such as writing press releases, creating newsletters, blogs, podcasts, offering copywriting services, marketing research, or integrating social networking into a marketing strategy – the services that you can provide are endless, and all depend on your specific niche and background experience.
Elisabeth (Misha) Castillo’s remote inside sales position at Zoetis was made possible because both her direct manager and her regional manager wanted to find a way to keep her at the animal-health company. In late 2015, her husband, who is a master sergeant in the U.S. Army, was transferred to Fort Bragg, NC. At the time, Misha had a held-based sales position, in which she was responsible for about 100 clients as the senior territory business manager for Tampa, FL. “My office was my car,” says Misha, mother of Yasmeen, 5, Lenin, 3, and newborn Lincoln. That changed after she and her family moved. Her manager arranged for her to transfer to a new inside sales position, and to allow her to work remotely from her new home in North Carolina.

Their training is done online and is self-paced. You could finish the program in 4 months but 6 months is probably more realistic. They do however give you up to a year to get it all done. Their program is approved by the American Health Information Management Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders. They work specifically with a company called IOD inc. that hires their grads to work from home right out of the program.
One of the primary reasons women are way, way behind men in retirement savings is because of the years we take out of the workforce for childcare and family care. Care is expensive, and many families can’t afford full time outside help. Those lost years of employment not only mean less direct savings, but also a slowing of our income growth trajectory that impacts our long-term earnings ability. Sacrifices we make willingly, but working at home can, as Meaghan says, give some moms the “best of both worlds.”
But if you're disciplined enough, you may succeed with a more flexible schedule. Chris Demarest, a children's book author and illustrator, found that he enjoyed the flux of each day while he worked at home in New Hampshire. "I wasn't too strict about separating myself from the family," he says. "I'd work for a certain amount of time each day, but I liked to play with the baby or tinker around the house."
Now that many businesses use online accounting software, the need for a full-time bookkeeper to manage accounts has decreased. While this is bad news for full-time bookkeepers or accountants, this is good news for someone interested in becoming a bookkeeping freelancer. You can offer the services businesses need for a fraction of the price a full-time bookkeeper may charge.
It’s not very engaging, or mentally stimulating, but taking online surveys through companies like Survey Junkie do pay out (a little), believe it or not. Even if the payouts come in the form of Amazon gift cards, sites like Swagbucks can pay well. Just don't expect to make bank with this side business idea—I recommend combining it with another source of side income from this list of my best business ideas, and turning to surveys in your downtime when you need a little extra income.
Robert Half is a staffing agency that places temporary, contract, and full-time employees in the Finance & Accounting, Creative & Marketing, and Office & Administrative fields. They frequently hire both entry-level and senior-level finance and accounting professionals, including: Accounting Clerks, Accounts Payable, Billing Clerks, Bookkeepers, Payroll Clerks, and many other roles. People in this thread are not exaggerating. Little BLF jr is an easy baby; I could totally put in five hours a day while taking decent care of him, if i was doing something like Mechanical Turk. I mean, I've managed to post this, right? Little bits of piece-work, no prob. My full-time job requires serious concentration, and if I go freelance we will totally get a nanny as already suggested. But no, a thousand times no.
Hello Alexa, I have read your list and am very interested. I am a single mother of two little ones, and I would like to start up an online job from home, until I can get further on my career path offline. I have no idea where to begin and would appreciate so ideal tips on what and where to get started to make a decent living for my kids as well as myself, I would greatly appreciate it thank you for your time.

As a growing number of parents seek work-from-home jobs, the market becomes more competitive. You have more chance of securing a great work-from-home job if you have the skills and experience to impress prospective employers. I was surprised that Nerium International was not on your list. The company is less than 4 years old and has broken so many records! Our CEO, Jeff Olson, gets invited year after year to speak to and teach other CEOs at their annual conferences. He is nicknamed “The Millionaire Maker”, and has brought many many companies from the bottom to the top. Nerium did $100 Million their first year with one product, in one country. And it doubles every year after that! It is also the youngest company to reach the top 40 list of the Direct Selling Association! This company is climbing fast to the top, and I’m proud to be involved in it.
I love this post! I meant to comment on your Facebook post about this and in true new mom fashion, I forgot to come back and do it. So here’s my little story…it has provided WAY more than I initially thought and has continued to provide. I’m a SAHM to a toddler and newborn. I used to teach and my husband teaches as well. After cutting expenses in our own budget, the next best way for us to save more money was to make money. I decided to open an Etsy shop (Joyful Art Designs) and sell printable signs. I spent 6 months preparing to open and a lot of hours the first several months to make it successful. The hard work has paid off and I’ve now replaced my teaching income if I had our two kids in day care. Right now I put in about 1-3 hours a day if I can since we have a newborn. I love blogging, but it’s a hobby, whereas this is a business. Thanks for letting us share our businesses…this is great for those searching to make money.
For the company name CASH FLOW, LEGIT FLEX JOBS and probably more that is showing the same introductions but different speaker and company’s name. Is a scam site I can speak because I have join in March 9 ,2018 and still no paycheck that was for being an independent contractor for these company as a data entry for unclaimed funds for every worksheet comes with a $5.00 fee. In the video presentation said that 3 to 6 days we will receive a payment on our worksheet . Never did even when they notified me that they got it and are working on it. Now it is March 30.2018 nothing in the mail from LEGIT FLEX JOBS , CASH FLOW. The 50 so called LEGIT JOBS by working from home is WRONG,FALSE,LIED and a SCAM.
If you’ve determined that you need full-time child care, a caregiver in your home (since that is where you are) is probably the best option if your children are not in school yet. A nanny will keep young kids from interrupting your work and, in many circumstances, can drive children to activities or pick them up from school. Hiring a full-time child care provider eliminates the need to scramble for childcare solutions during school holidays and when your child is sick. Most nannies do not live with families but a live-in nanny or an au pair is an option if you take business trips frequently or have to work outside the home at night.
If you’re a mom that likes to be out and about and don’t mind picking up a few extra errands, this option can become a considerable source of income for you. Sites like TaskRabbit connect you with local users who are looking for a variety of tasks they need help with. These tasks can vary from furniture assembly to grocery shopping. Pick the tasks that fit your abilities and your schedule.
What kind of skills do you have that you could leverage into sales? Think about products you could create yourself, preferably at low cost. The longer it takes to make them by hand, generally the more you can charge for them. A few ideas include sewing toys or clothes, baking and decorating fancy cakes, paintings or other artwork, or wedding favours.
Only a few of these solutions actually give me more time to work and none of them address the fact that taking care of the baby takes time--time well spent--but time nonetheless. What they do is take away some of the need to multitask and be perfect. For now, childcare is not an option, so I think it's going to be an ongoing struggle to find ways to work and be mom. So I ask you readers, how do you make it work?
Finding a work-from-home opportunity or remote, flexible jobs that pay well may be challenging for stay-at-home moms and dads, but the great news is that there is such a massive range of telecommuting options available these days. So, regardless of whether you are a stay-home mom or dad seeking a side-hustle, an entry-level employee, or someone seeking a a more executive position, there are options!
Hey y’all! I’m an independent consultant with Rodan and Fields, a premium skincare line that was started by the same doctors that created ProActive. I’m a stay at home mom and decided to join this business because everything is done online and they have a great business model! I devote a few hours a week to posting on social media, following up with potential clients and product training. If you are interested in earning $250, $500, or even more than $1000 a month I would love to share information about this business with you!
Many entrepreneurs and traveling executives struggle to manage their numerous tasks in operations, human resources, marketing, etc. However, most cannot afford a dedicated personal assistant working from their office – in fact, most own remote offices. A virtual assistant (VA) is a person who provides support services to businesses from a remote location. This job is derived from the development of the Internet era, which enabled document sharing and made remote working a reality.
The art of eBay, or buying and selling online, is a mysterious one. But it can be conquered if you do your research on business ideas for stay-at-home moms.. It’s all about picking up bulk items for a low price and then selling them on for a higher price. You might be selling hundreds of individual items a day if you really get into it. This is the only way to make a substantial profit, unless you have prior knowledge of a cheap wholesalers who can get you some seriously great deals. For some additional insight and tips, have a read of Ken Rockwell’s guide.
You can take online classes to improve your voice and get variations in your intonation. You need to get an understanding on natural pauses in conversation, breathing, holding the mic, intonation, etc. In order to capture a crystal clear recording, you might want to set up a home studio. Once you create a voice demo audio file, market it to various recording studios. And yes, there is a need to visit recording studios, so this is not a complete stay-at-home job!
How many promotional emails do you find in your inbox every morning? Probably a ton -- because a ton of companies use them. If you’ve worked in advertising, marketing, publishing or as a copywriter, chances are you can master the skills to work as an email marketer from home. The very nature of the work depends entirely on the internet, so completing the job remotely makes perfect sense.

We chose this schedule because I wanted to quit my 9-to-5 and be the primary caregiver. While this might, at first blush, appear to conform to traditional gender roles, I assure you nothing about our relationship is conservative or regressive. Mr. FW and I are both feminists committed to an egalitarian partnership and it was my express desire to transition into this role.
First, let me say that I believe all moms are working moms, whether they’re working in the home, out of the home or a little bit of both, as is my current situation. I'm fortunate to be able to stay at home and work. But I'd be lying if I said there weren't times I questioned what I was doing, why I was doing it and if it was really for me. Half a decade and another child later, I still do. This is the hardest gig I've ever had—and that's saying something, because I've had some tortuous jobs!
Design your way to a work-from-home job with this position as a senior product designer. Top-level candidates will not only understand the importance of user experience and visual design, but they’ll also be able to effectively communicate it. In short, you get excited solving design challenges with other designers and developers, and then improving and iterating on those products. You’ll need to rely on a deep understanding of visual design and user experience to take new ideas from concept (research and user testing) all the way to execution (mock-ups and prototypes).

Public relations professionals are typically adept at communicating verbally and through various media. You should be a good writer and have a background in journalism or business. An instinct for sales is also important since you’ll need that tool to establish client relationships, bring your message to the attention of the media and create messaging that advances the viewpoint of your clients. Related to your sales skills, you should have a thorough understanding of how company practices, policies and culture impact customer relationships and be able to help your clients make positive change in this area.

Set aside some time to plan out your whole week in advance. Having a plan will help you be more productive and will keep everyone sane. Some things I plan out are my work hours, my non-negotiable family hours, my meals, my housekeeping schedule, my morning routine, and self-care. I also strongly urge you not to neglect your self-care and do not think of it as being selfish. If you do not take care of yourself, you will not be able to give your best to your job or your kids. – Bethany | Mama Finds Her Way
An eBay entrepreneur is free to specialize in the kinds of products that they love in order to establish themselves as part of a niche market. It is attractive because the job involves very little start-up costs or ongoing costs and the minimal training required for this job is provided directly by eBay. It is also possible to begin such a job in one’s spare time and then transition to full-time entrepreneur if the part-time gig is successful.
I wish I had read more blogs like this while I was pregnant! I manage a remote team from home for a large global corporation that has afforded me lots of flexibility but now as a thirty four year old first time mom with a two month old getting ready to go back to work I am realizing that my original plan to work from home with my baby was a bit naive and none of my working mom friends or colleagues had the heart to tell me so I am suffering the shock of forfeiting one third of my income to childcare along with the anxiety of placing my child in the care of strangers. I found an excellent childcare facility within a mile of my house that I know will be great for my daughter but I am now agonizing over my budget and trying to reconcile the feasibility of having another child before 40 (and before she’s starts kindergarten) with the exorbitant childcare costs. I like to write. I need to explore this freelance thing. I have the added burden of being the primary source of income. My husband does warehouse work. He just graduated with a BFA in Photography and is working on building his website to build his passion as a supplementary source of income.
A desire to make the world around us more beautiful is a great reason to want to go into the interior design business. There are a few ways to enter this business that you may want to consider. First, you don’t necessarily need to be an interior designer. You can help people with limited budgets by doing home staging or decorating their home with what they already own. A good way to help set yourself apart from the pack in this industry is to specialize in a certain area or style of design.
Driving audiences on social media by engaging them with continuous content and activity is an important part of the job. It definitely takes time and effort to maintain an online presence but it is also rewarding when one gauges the response of happy customers. Promoting products and services on social media is one of the best freelance jobs for stay-at-home moms since it offers the freedom to work from home. You can grow your own business through digital marketing or working freelance for other companies.
Tip #3: Hire a babysitter part-time. I have a babysitter watch “The Wild 3” from 8am–1pm. She feeds them lunch. At 1pm, I take 10–15 minutes to play with them and then start nap/quiet time. During this time, I can hop on a video call or jam out on my to-do’s for the day. When they wake up, I take 10–15 minutes to get them interested in something (playing in the backyard, coloring, worksheets, etc.) and I finish up my work.
Seconding this - this is what my brother and sister-in-law, who both work from home, have always done - they save the really high-octane work for one or two days a week, and that's when my parents come to either spend the day there with the kids, or take them to their own place for a visit. Granted, in their case it's not "day care" so much as "grandparenting", and you may not necessarily live 20 minutes from your parents, but that kind of "pick some portion of each day or week and have someone come over to babysit while you get work done" is definitely a doable thing.
I do work on my computer while he is up and playing and then when it's nap time I make my phone calls! I get my list of contacts and numbers ready before he lays down, so I have as much time as possible to make calls for follow up or recruiting. It's worked out really well so far!! Love my baby boy and my “job” I'm so happy to find a balance that meets everyone's needs! – Tiffany Lynch of 3000BC
