Many companies are now on the lookout for experienced and hardworking customer service agents. You may need some training but you can always answer the phone at home. You may have to provide administrative support with data processing or paperwork, or you may have to work directly with clients to help resolve any issue they are facing. Many customer service rep jobs pay you anywhere between $8 and $15 per hour, which is definitely a great start.
It is usually about using your common sense and spotting what does not look natural. Legitimate online job opportunities are definitely available, but you may have to search hard for them. The good thing is that after some experience you will eventually be in a position to make right choices. Here are some highly impressive work-from-home jobs that will help you supplement your income while taking right care of your kids as a single dad.
Mark Egerman of Brooklyn, New York, recently started his second stint as a stay-at-home dad. When the 35-year-old's first child was born in 2015, it coincided with the sale of his restaurant payment app company. As CEO, he planned to take off three to six months to help care for his newborn. But once his company sold, he was in a position to take an indefinite leave.
CashCrate is an online platform where you can start earning money by completing offers, taking surveys, watching videos, and shopping online using their site. I’ve played around on the site a little bit, and you’ll want to make sure that you read all of the fine print on each and every offer. Many offers require an email address, which means you’ll receive offers from them and other marketers. Tasks pay out anywhere from a few cents to $30.00 or more, and you’ll receive $1 for signing up for an account. Payments are made via check or PayPal.
Beginning in the 2000s, the stay-at-home dad began to emerge as a role in China, though some remain uncomfortable with the way the role changes traditional family dynamics.[40] Customs in China suggest that men must be the heads of their households. Stereotyping is an issue for stay-at-home dads, who sometimes prefer not to tell others about their family arrangement.[40] Traditional ideas promote criticism of "woman-like" men, and many[who?] feel that they would face humiliation and criticism for being stay-at-home dads. Others[who?] suppose they would be looked at as having a wife that is "too strong".[40]

After less than two years in corporate America and the realization that I could do it better myself (I’m a quick study), I donned a new wardrobe and began working from home in 1989. Within two years, our first child was born. Two years later, she had a sibling. By 1997, three little Zbars were traipsing around the home office, occasionally driving me nuts, to be sure, but also forcing me to improve my workstyle – and accommodate their needs.

When I started my career in 1972, my husband and I both worked.  We didn’t have kids yet.  In those days, married couples were the ones having children.  After my kids were born, I divorced and became a single mom. Things have changed within a few generations. According to the Census Bureau, in 1974, a married couple headed 84 percent of all families with children, and from 1974 to 2015, the rate of families with children headed by a single mother nearly doubled – from 14.6 percent to 26.4 percent.  By the way, the rate of single fatherhood quadrupled from 1.4 percent to 8.1 percent. Today, almost 70 percent of women with children work outside the home.
The first African-Americans to reach America were initially brought over as indentured servants, but instead became slaves. By the 19th century, slave trading was a thriving business.[9] Typical slave families consisted of one or two children. Women were primarily the head of the families, either because the fathers had died or had been separated from the family.[9] African-American women experienced what came to be known as the "double day", a full day of domestic chores plus a full day of work outside the home.[10]

With the growth of telecommuting, many men are also able to work from home.[16] In this regard, he is contributing financially to the family while also acting as the primary caregiver of the family's children.[16] Differences in parent's schedules can also account for some of the stay-at-home dads. Over a 20-year period during the late 20th century, there was an increase in the number of women in the workforce in Canada.[36] This shift increased father participation in family tasks that used to primarily be the responsibility of the mother.[36] Beginning in the late 20th century, parental roles began to become less traditional, and the stay-at-home dad arrangement began to become more common.[36] The number of stay-at-home dads increased by three percent points between 1976 and 1998,[36] and the average age of a stay-at-home dad in Canada is forty-two.[36] A bill was passed in by the Canadian government in October 1990 which granted paid leave for fathers for the purpose of primary caregiving.[36]

What I loved most about interviewing these couples is that they took everything about their “nontraditional” marriages and completely owned it. While I’m over here analyzing every square inch of my marriage and wondering if my husband secretly hates me because all I can cook is lasagna and the occasional Crock-Pot meal, these couples are just like, this is what works for us and who cares what anyone else thinks?

In general, he cooks, cleans and cares for his children most days of the week, while his partner works outside the home as the family’s main breadwinner. Because many at-home dads also provide some income to the family, whether by working an evening or weekend shift full-time, working part-time inside or outside the home, or doing odd jobs when it works into the family’s schedule, we believe that a man’s position as an “at-home dad” is best defined by his role as a caregiver, rather than by his employment or income status. We also find that most at-home dads are in the role by choice (over 70% according to this 2012 study), and not due to job loss or an inability to find employment.
More than 85% of online surfers look for things by using Google and other search engines. It’s hard to tell which came first, the chicken or the egg.  I think the emergence of the working mother has been a simultaneous phenomenon when it comes to the stay-at-home father.  Women are coming into their own and want to pursue meaningful careers, and they also want to have kids.  Dads are feeling more comfortable with the caregiving role, and economics have forced couples to make “non-traditional” decisions.
I completely understand that letting the world know you’re looking for a job may not be the most fun thing in the world. But, the more people you tell, the more people you’ll have on your team and the more opportunities that will come your way. They can reach out to their contacts or their employer to see if there’s anything you’d be interested in applying to. Reach out to your friends, the parents of your children’s friends and your former coworkers to see if they know of any openings.
Akerson: A completely remote team comes with many benefits, the first of which is we can pull talent from anywhere in the country, and when jobs are posted, our pool of qualified applicants is always overflowing. Another benefit is that worktime is maximized – no commute means more productive working time. Employees LOVE the flexibility of scheduling their working hours around what works best for them and their family. We have a couple of weekly meetings, but otherwise employees are free to work whenever they want. This can mean late nights or early mornings for moms with very small children, but the benefit is truly work-life balance. The biggest benefit is that employees get to be part of a company whose mission they believe in, without worrying that they’re missing out on their children’s lives.
Besides, my wife staying at her job has benefited us in many ways. She works a non-traditional schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week, so she has four days when she can stay at home and help raise our baby. This gives me more time to work on my now full-time business to increase my income. Plus, her job allows us to keep semi-subsidized employer health benefits that save us a significant amount of money. While my benefits were slightly better, her benefits are still infinitely better than buying health care independently.
A great way to make new connections in your area is to join professional organizations. These can be as general as a chamber of commerce or as specific as the Public Relations Society of America. These groups look great on your resume and they are a perfect way to get to know people in your profession. In addition, many times these organizations post new job openings on their website or announce them at meetings, before the general public knows about them.

Let me start by saying there is nothing wrong with sending your children to day care. But we didn’t want to be forced into doing that for our children, especially as early as 12 weeks old. While we are strongly considering some form of day care to socialize our child later in life, we want to raise our son at home for at least the first two years of his life. We just had to figure out how to make a stay-at-home parent work for us financially.

Your partner can also be a great source of support. When Samuelson's husband, a teacher, arrives home at 3:30 p.m., she relies on him to take over kid duty. He can ferry their two children to the park and get dinner ready, and Samuelson will emerge a few hours later feeling finished with her day's to-do list. If your partner gets home after dinner, ask him to oversee bedtime -- you'll fit in at least an hour of work before the kids yell "Mom!" And once they do, you're there for the call, with no rush hour to race through.

World War II had a significant impact on changing family roles. Because of the draft, workers were scarce in many industries and employers began to fill jobs with women, mainly in nontraditional positions. This increase in working women became one of the few times in history where women were praised for work outside the home.[12] Divorce rates also reached a new high during this period. Not only had many women found a new sense of independence, but cultural shifts were underway, including the rise of feminism and the development of reliable methods of birth control. Such changes caused some women to decide to end their unhappy marriages.[13]

Identity – At-home dads struggle with their identity as men. Society still believes that childcare and household chores are “a woman’s work” so at-home dads often can feel unsure of their manliness. This is further complicated by friends, family and even their own spouses not supporting their decision to be at-home dads. For some at-home dads, this identity struggle is too great and the family suffers from a man who becomes depressed and frustrated about his perceived failings to “be a man” or he returns to work. Fortunately, most at-home dads come to enjoy their unique role and get comfortable changing diapers and folding laundry instead of “bringing home the bacon.” These at-home dads are redefining the very definition of masculinity.
Since naptime is when many moms are tempted to cram in everything on their to-do list -- dishwashing, playdate schedules, laundry -- try to stay focused. "If you were working outside the home, you wouldn't be concerned with anything but work," says Durst. Concentrate only on the things you can't do when your child is awake. Aside from naptime, if you're a morning person, use the wee hours to get stuff done before the rest of the family wakes up. A night owl? Burn the midnight oil.
Just because a dad chooses to stay at home doesn’t mean he isn’t earning an income. Technology and the internet mean that working in traditional offices is no longer an absolute, or even the norm. According to Global Workplace Analytics, work-from-home positions among non-self-employed workers have grown by 115% since 2005, which is nearly 10 times faster than the rest of the workforce. Additionally, the digital population engaged in virtual, remote employment, telecommuting and flextime has grown immensely, with 45% of U.S. employees working from home, according to a 2015 report by New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Jen notes that she is aware of the warning advice for breadwinning wives that the switch-up can lead to the path of divorce. “The man [feels] not needed as much or the woman feels too much pressure from every angle,” explains Jen. “It may be true, but I also think you both have to have the mindset of, ‘OK, this is what we are going to do. If it doesn’t work out, we’ll change it, but regardless, we’ll work it out together.’ ”

Isolation – Being an stay at-home dad can be an isolating experience which can lead to depression. Every at-home parent deals with isolation but this is magnified for at-home dads because our society is still unfamiliar with men taking this role. On the playground, in the grocery store, or at pre-school, at-home dads often feel ignored or sometimes, feared, by the people they encounter. This makes it difficult for at-home dads to feel comfortable in their role or make many adult friends. While the number of men choosing to stay home with their children has more than doubled in the last 10 years, at-home dads still have many difficulties finding and connecting with other at-home dads.

With the growth of telecommuting, many men are also able to work from home.[16] In this regard, he is contributing financially to the family while also acting as the primary caregiver of the family's children.[16] Differences in parent's schedules can also account for some of the stay-at-home dads. Sometimes the father works odd work shifts while the mother has a typical nine-to-five work schedule.[16]
