When you’re a mom, sometimes it feels like the grass is always greener somewhere else. If you work, you wish you were home with the kids; but when you’re home 24/7, it can feel like a big mistake. Working at home with the kids gives you a balance of both worlds — you can feel productive and earn some cash without stepping away from your parental role during the workweek.
Helping people get approved for the home of their dreams is one of the biggest goals of the mortgage-loan officer. You’ll proactively identify, develop and maintain a quality network of business relationships that serve as a source of referrals for new mortgage-lending opportunities. To snag this remote job, you’ll need a BA/BS or equivalent experience in residential mortgage sales. Documented residential mortgage-loan volume in the past 12 months of $12 million is a minimum, along with being able to establish relationships with local referral networks.

I admire you for putting yourself, Blake and your marriage first and then work. It’s not easy, especially in today’s world. You are an amazing woman to be able to balance all of it and run such a successful blog, body program and teaching of others through videos or in person. I’m sure it is not easy and I know you have to be organized to do it all. Please know you are an inspiration to many!! May God continue to bless you, your family and your business!!

I blog at Smithspirations where I share encouragement and inspiration for Christian homemakers in the areas of faith, family, and natural living. I’m also a Lilla Rose hair accessory consultant, which allows me to earn income and occasionally get out of the house! A win for a homeschooling & busy mom of 5! You’ve got to match your tasks to two things: your energy levels and your surroundings. Save work that you need to concentrate on for blocks of times when you’re alone and alert. For example, while writing this post at 11 PM, my eyes started closing. I decided to finish it first thing in the morning when I would be feeling energetic and the house would be quiet. Schedule social media posts when you only have a few minutes at a time or are feeling tired. When you’re feeling less energetic, that might be a good time to to take the courses you may have bought that have piled up.
This is a new practice I started to make the most of the nap time hours. As I mentioned, we’re down to 1 nap in our house so those 2 hours are like precious gold. Social media is a big part of my job, as is email, and both are easy to get sucked into for longer than necessary. So I set timers. 20 minutes on the clock for social media posts and responses, 35 minutes for email, 65 minutes for writing/bookkeeping/program creation/video editing/etc. It’s a great tool to stay focused.
I’m sure you’ve heard of or even purchased items from Etsy, the most well-known website for buying and selling homemade items. If you are crafty and can create products that people would be interested in buying, this can be a very lucrative work from home opportunity. The categories of items that are the most popular include: home decor, jewelry, clothing, toys, craft supplies, and kids/babies.
Your blog is very inspiring! Am currently in EBA 3.0 and I need for this to work. LOL! I been a SAHM for years and recently became a school bus driver to earn money and the schedule works around the kids for the most part. But the Hubby’s schedule is changing in Jan. and I have to make this work. Thanks so much all the freebies and inspiring stories.

Hello Alexa, I have read your list and am very interested. I am a single mother of two little ones, and I would like to start up an online job from home, until I can get further on my career path offline. I have no idea where to begin and would appreciate so ideal tips on what and where to get started to make a decent living for my kids as well as myself, I would greatly appreciate it thank you for your time.
Exchange student host—This isn't necessarily a job, but it is a way to bring some extra money into your household. Both international high school and college students come to America on exchange, and they stay with host families for as little as three months or as long as one year. You will need to have a fully furnished room for students and must be willing to welcome them into your family as if they were your own. A lot of SAHMs and their families enjoy the cultural experiences and enrichment that comes from hosting exchange students. You could also look at other hosting options, such as offering room and board to athletes or medical students in training.
One way to make money at home is sell Valentus products. I am a product of the product…In four months I have lost 25 pounds and 25 inches with just drinking one cup of Valentus Slim Roast per day. I also sell the product and I make money doing it! All it cost was $20 US to become a consultant. I sell my products on my websites and thru word of mouth. That’s it!
Whatever it is, I can assure you that no work-from-home mom (or for that matter, dad) is sitting on the couch catching up on soaps. With all due respect to Days of Our Lives, just because I choose to be the primary caretaker for my children doesn’t mean I have no desire to fulfill other aspects of my life. I'm still as hungry as ever when it comes to my career—I’ve just chosen a new venue. Remember, people: Mothers come in all shapes, sizes, colors and careers.

Wow, I have to say I was a bit surprised that you were pursuing paid blogging. I wish I could reclaim all of the time I wasted on attempting to produce income from my blogs and/or writing! Hopefully your existing job/rental income will give you the cushion you need until you can find some form of freelancing that pays better – or write a book, at least…

While working at home may not allow you to stay in your prior profession, it can allow you to keep your business skills fresh while you take a break from your regular job. The skills you learn while working at home, coupled with the years of experience, could be seen as justification for higher pay if you choose to return to your previous career down the road.
Zeitcaster is a location-based service that delivers local event data. They frequently hire part-time data entry clerks to input time and location data, as well as categorize each event. I recently became a SAHM for my 10 month old daughter. Its been great to stay home with her but we had to cut back on a lot of expenses and I really missed being able to go out for an ice cream or getting a coffee. My friend works for a research company and asked me to participate in one of her studies by filling out an online form about my daughter and husband. It was pretty easy and gave me a little mad money to take my daughter and husband out for a little treat. I know that they are still looking for participants so thought I would share in case anyone is in a similar situation as me. If anyone is interested you can use this link http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/1918197/V3-Rater-Interest-Survey to fill out their interest survey to receive more information about the study.

Hi, I'm Angela. I'm a writer at heart, blogger by trade. I spend my day chasing a toddler and negotiating with two tween daughters. In between, I drink coffee, meditate, scribble notes, take photos, schedule appointments, read, write and find joy in the little things. Sometimes I travel, sometimes I practice yoga. Everyday I create something new and share them on this blog at least 2-3 times a week.
I have just started my new blog, Meaningful Nest, last week. Your post couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. I need guidance, and your writing and pictures melted my heart and tugged at the strings on it. I love your advice. I am struggling with doing it all right, and how my children see me, and how what I am doing and what I say to them (the “in a minute” one resonated with me) does stick with them and form their view of me and impacts them significantly. I teach full time as a special education teacher and have started my new blog to do something just for me. BUT I will need help balancing it all, and I will come back to what you said again and again. I have added you to my list of “Meaningful Blogs”. Thank you for your inspiration!!!
It's important to line up your day carefully, with set "office" hours. How many hours do you hope to work that day? When will you return calls? What can you accomplish while your son or daughter is coloring in the next room? You'll get more done if you work smarter, not harder, says Christine Durst, a mom of two in Woodstock, Connecticut, and cofounder of ratracerebellion.com, a site that helps people find work-at-home jobs. That said, one of the best benefits of working at home is flexibility, especially if you are your own boss. If your son or daughter is fussing during your office hours and it's a beautiful day, it's okay to push assignments aside and go to the park. You can catch up on work later when your cutie has settled down.

Great post! I LOVE my job as a Norwex consultant and that it allows me to be a stay at home mom with my 3 kids. So many awesome benefits like flexibility, free sign up and 35% commission make it the best job for me and my family! My favorite thing about being a Norwex consultant is helping others rid their home of chemicals and make it a safer place for their families.

Great article! So many mom’s looking for this article. My family and I started taking Zija superfood (SmartMix/SuperMix) a couple years ago and the natural energy drink about 1 year ago. We’ve had so many amazing health results. My sister started getting paychecks from Zija and we were like, wow this is really a great opportunity for a 2nd income. We have so many people asking us about the products it is so easy. And now they’ve created their workout drink division Ripstix and amazing essential oils Ameo which gives us something to sell to everyone! Great company and our team is so inspirational and motivated. http://Www.jbconyer.myzija.com http://www.jbconyer.myameo.com

The work-at-home mom revolution was born out of moms and families looking to find solutions to the ever-growing demands of modern parenting, while keeping a professional identity. It was sparked by a very clear need in corporate America – families needed more flexibility. They needed a change. However, the burden of change fell on the moms and they could only go so far.

In Canada we can get a year of mat leave (getting paid at EI rates, which for me means about 25% of full pay). I’m not pregnant yet, but we are saving so that I’ll be able to take that full year off and be financially comfortable with EI + savings for a year. After that, I’ll go back to work full time and my husband will take care of the baby. He works from home on a flexible schedule that can be as part-time as he likes. It will mean he cuts back on hours, but my salary is much greater anyway. I’m sure it will be hard to return to work, but I’ll be glad to have a full year at home (both of us home during the day for a full year!)
For many millennial women, staying at home is both a desire and a convenience, but it's not about having your cake and eating it, too. Taking care of a child is a full-time job and these women add more work on top of it so they can do more than simply survive and subsist. Millennial women are rejecting the status-quo pigeonhole of “mother equals homemaker” and are finding value in both caring for their families and holding careers.
1. Content mills (also called content farms)—These websites are run by companies that ask you to write and submit content on certain topics and that say they will pay you in return. It is worth noting that there are reputable websites that do pay, and some people enjoy the work and are happy with the pay that they receive. But you should know that, in some cases, it can result in a whole lot of effort for very little income.
Less expensive options include help from friends, family and neighbors, hiring a mother's helper (such as a high school senior) and swapping playdates with other working parents. Michelle, a work-from-home mom from London, U.K., has an arrangement with her retired neighbor. "She looks after my kids for a couple of hours after school, twice a week, and in return I do her grocery shopping and wash her car," she tells SheKnows. "It works for both of us, and a lovely bonus is that she and my kids have developed a really great relationship."

I always imagined I’d stay home full-time, but when my daughter was about eight months old, I was bored out of my mind. Fortunately, I was asked to work p/t at a local college for a ten-week period, while someone was out for back surgery. Since this was supposed to be temporary, we hired a babysitter to care for our daughter at our house, while I was at work. The guy never ended up getting back surgery, but my temporary gig turned into something I’m still doing, almost six years later!

Teachers! Guess what my favorite side job is? Yes, this one is actually my part time job and I love doing it! I teach English to students in Beijing. Don’t let that last statement intimidate you; it’s mostly “P says Puh! Puh, Puh, Pig!” instruction to begin with. To start, you need a bachelor’s degree in any field, some experience with children, and a bubbly personality. Make anywhere from $14-$22 per hour, and set your own hours. Click this link to get started.

Now, don't get me wrong — there is nothing wrong with not joining Facebook if you absolutely are against it. You can certainly find work at home jobs without it by following blogs like this one, but Miranda made a great point that Facebook is an excellent resource that shouldn't be ignored unless you're just completely adamant that you want no part of Facebook.
I’m trying to build my business, so I can stay at home. So currently I am working a more-than-full-time job out of the house, and working my Jamberry business in any free time I have! I’ve never liked selling things, but I fell in love with Jamberry’s product, so I knew even if I only bought for myself and family id come out on top. I feel safe having them on my nails, as they’re non-toxic! – Andrea Stewart at Jamberry Nails
Renee Belbeck, a WAHM from Columbus, Ohio, and C.E.O. and founder of the National Association of W.O.M.E.N. (Women, Owners, Moms, Entrepreneurs, and Networkers), discovered a simple rule when her children were toddlers: "If I gave them a little quality time, I'd get two hours to work." She says the rule still holds true, even though her children are now 10 and 6.
Would you please provide me with some information about the company that you work with to teach English online? While I don’t have a teaching degree, I do have a degree in communications. I also worked in International Trade so I have a strong background in business terminology. I am an at-home mom and the work sounds ideal. Thank you in advance for any details or advice you can provide.

1. Envelope stuffing—You are asked to send in money to receive a starter kit and told that you will be paid for every envelope that you stuff and send. What you end up receiving is a package telling you how to advertise the scam. The goal is that you advertise the same envelope-stuffing scheme to others and allegedly get a kickback for every person who responds to your ads and signs up.
What an awesome list! This is the first list I have come across that was helpful to me in more ways than just one. In a blog world of basically the same advice (start blog-get ads-get traffic, etc) I like that there are differing takes on what works, because each of us is different. I am just embarking on my WAHM journey, without much direction to be honest, and while exploring I found this article. It gave me some direction I was craving! Thank you! I even linked it in my newest blog post about my woes in generativity vs stagnation. 🙂

I love all the ideas here. I have been a stay at home mom for the past 9 years Until recently I haven’t had a need to work from home. I would really love to do something that is flexible and strictly online due to having a critically ill child at home. My passion is research for financial assistance for families in need. I would love to be able to find a way to turn this into a profitable stay at home business but I am completely lost in how to get started and if there is even a need for it. Until then I would be interested in data entry or research virtual assistant. If anyone has an idea where to start or if there is something I can do until I can start I would be interested in talking with you. Thank you

When our daughter was born, the cost of childcare was more than my DH’s income. So he became the SAHP while I continued working. We also have health insurance through my job, so it was basically a no-brainer. Four years later, we are looking at homeschooling her and will continue this path for as long as it makes sense. The cost of afterschool care and summer care and the like would also equal about his take home pay should he return to work in the next year or so.

Yes, it just depends what you’re looking to get into. For the past year and a half I’ve worked about 20 hours a week writing for blogs and have pulled in anywhere from $2,000 – $3,000 per month. Now I’m doing more virtual assistant work and in the next few months should bring in quite a bit more money. (I’ll also be working 40 hours per week though)
