Congratulations on your decision to be stay-at-home mom instead of outsourcing your child care. I think it’s one of the best decisions a parent can make if they have the option to do so. We don’t have children yet but struggle with the idea of having our future child/ren attend daycare. We’re so close to FI that we one of us might not return to work once we get to that point.
You don’t just want any ol’ customer-service job. No, you want to be a smashing success. In this fast-paced position, you’ll be the point of contact to answer merchant questions. You should be able to determine the best plan and proactively identify growth opportunities that will help the merchant’s business skyrocket. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial flair, two-plus years of customer-service experience, and an inquiring mind to find solutions for specific issues.
What a great insight you have. I have searched the internet for perspectives on working from home for those of us who are actually doing it, and all I find usually are those pesky ads. Your post is exactly what I was looking for. I do my best to juggle, but it’s always helpful to see what others are doing and get new ideas for ways I can improve. Thank you so very much.
For many women, like me, who need both the income and the outlet, working part time is a blessed answer. I’m thankful that today loads of mothers are making strides in both the public and the private sectors from the comfort of their own couches. I’m glad I get to be one of them because the work-at-home-mom (otherwise known as WAHM) community is an excellent one. It seems that the tides are turning and the battle cry of the mommy wars are quieting; thanks to a new climate—a new way of leaning in, if you will—we seem to be coming together as a community of women, supporting each other in our choices to raise kids, explore creative endeavors, start businesses, and find ourselves in a whole new way.
I recently became a SAHM for my 10 month old daughter. Its been great to stay home with her but we had to cut back on a lot of expenses and I really missed being able to go out for an ice cream or getting a coffee. My friend works for a research company and asked me to participate in one of her studies by filling out an online form about my daughter and husband. It was pretty easy and gave me a little mad money to take my daughter and husband out for a little treat. I know that they are still looking for participants so thought I would share in case anyone is in a similar situation as me. Having strong relationships with your extended network of family and friends is also important. When you start freelancing, don’t fall off the face of the earth! Whether it’s taking time to grab coffee with a friend, calling your mom when you have a free moment or meeting up for a playdate, these small but meaningful actions will keep you connected with your community.

When seeking out jobs for stay-at-home moms, "no scams" is probably at the top of your mind and part of your search. You have likely heard the phrase, "If it appears too good to be true, then it probably is." That certainly applies to some so-called opportunities to earn money from home. There are many scams out there involving companies that will do just about anything—from taking your money and giving you nothing in return to stealing your identity. So you definitely need to be careful.
Be honest. When you think of work-from-home jobs, what comes to mind? Data entry? Customer service? While it’s true that some jobs just scream “work from home,” you might be amazed by the number of industries that offer flex-friendly positions. Although there are work-from-home jobs in practically every industry, the top fields for flexible jobs are medical and health, HR and recruiting, computer and IT, and education and training, as well as accounting and finance, government, and travel and hospitality.
Time management is so tough! I’m still trying to figure that out, especially with two kids who no longer nap (most of the time), homeschool, workouts, my quiet times, housecleaning, cooking, running errands, spending time with my husband, and oh yeah, sleep! I’m also starting to study for my ACE training certification while continuing to read up on holistic nutrition (my passion!). I love seeing tips from other moms, so thank you for this! (And i have the same Whitney English planner!)

“My mom tried telling me I couldn’t have it all—but as it turns out, it’s possible to have it all but it’s impossible to do it all well,” says Meredith C. Carroll, 45, a Colorado-based freelance writer who’s written about her WAHM challenges. Carroll has two daughters, ages seven and 10. As a WAHM, Carroll felt she missed much of her eldest daughter’s early childhood, so she stayed home with her second child to fill in the gaps. “The stuff I missed wasn't necessarily tangible,” she says. “It was more about being emotionally absent in the many small moments that quickly add up.”
Millennials already save for financial freedom and demand more flexibility at work, and they catch flak for “whining,” a.k.a. speaking up for a healthy work-life balance. Compared to other countries — even some third-world countries — the United States has poor family policies. It's one of only three countries in the world to not mandate paid maternity leave by law, next to Oman and Papua New Guinea. Are we a world power or aren’t we?
Renee Belbeck, a WAHM from Columbus, Ohio, and C.E.O. and founder of the National Association of W.O.M.E.N. (Women, Owners, Moms, Entrepreneurs, and Networkers), discovered a simple rule when her children were toddlers: "If I gave them a little quality time, I'd get two hours to work." She says the rule still holds true, even though her children are now 10 and 6.
Same here. My daughter is almost 3 and my salary has doubled in that time. Had I made the choice to quit in the few paychecks after I came back I would have missed out on that huge increase. I know that might not be typical, but I’ve seen lots of coworker’s leave at the director level only to be hired back several years later 3-4 levels lower. That results in huge lifetime losses in income and years of missing investments in your 401k. Everyone needs to do what they think is right, but daycare is definitely not a woman only expense.
My ability to strike this arrangement is thanks in large part to–of course–our extreme frugality. I really can’t stress enough the incredible options that frugality yields. And I’m by no means the first early retiree/financial independence devotee to take advantage of this parenting option–indeed 1500 Days to Freedom, Mr. Money Mustache, and Root Of Good all utilized their frugality to allow them to stay home with their children.
Employment Options offers work-at-home jobs for citizens receiving SSDI and/or SSI disability benefits in 47 states. Their services are free as part of a national return to work program. The jobs they have with leading national employers are for various skill levels and are Customer Service or Tech Support based with opportunities to specialize in Billing & Coding, Information Technology, Nursing, Case Management, Concierge, Sales, Reservations, Travel and more. They also offer onsite community positions as well. Simply apply on their website to get started and their staff will follow-up within two business days.
Another tactic to adopt when you're in business mode? Dress the part. Aimee Samuelson, a Portland, Oregon, mom of two, who runs a marketing business out of a converted garage, dresses as if she's going into an office when she's on the job. She knows if she works in her pj's she won't concentrate as well and might get distracted by household tasks between conference calls. Not everyone needs a suit on to feel more professional -- sometimes taking a shower and putting on makeup and a clean outfit will do the trick.
Please, can you let me know what your great online job is? I have been combing the internet for a legitimate job now for quite a while and I come up empty-handed most of the time. I am a fast typist (62 WPM), but have found that you need to either know how to translate or transcribe. I have a hearing problem, so sometimes it’s hard for me to understand what is being said in a recording, especially if the person talks fast. Thanks
How much you earn is entirely up to you. If you can only spend limited time (maybe at start) you can earn $100 a day spending as little as an hour a day which is a nice supplement to your current income. Once you dedicate more time you can start earning a very nice income that can replace your current income. Dedicated members of our work-at-home jobs program can earn as much as $500 or more per day!

Exchange student host—This isn't necessarily a job, but it is a way to bring some extra money into your household. Both international high school and college students come to America on exchange, and they stay with host families for as little as three months or as long as one year. You will need to have a fully furnished room for students and must be willing to welcome them into your family as if they were your own. A lot of SAHMs and their families enjoy the cultural experiences and enrichment that comes from hosting exchange students. You could also look at other hosting options, such as offering room and board to athletes or medical students in training.
One could easily argue that I spend way too much money at Starbucks. And while I would agree, I’ve come to accept that it’s a part of my routine that has helped me build my business. I learned this from my cousin whom I greatly admire. She’s a very successful work-at-home mom and after dropping the kids off at pre-school in the morning she would swing through Starbucks as a ritual that marked the transition from being mom, to being at work. Your ritual doesn’t need to include Starbucks, it could be a mug of tea, changing clothes, turning on music, etc. The key is to find something that helps your transition from “home time” to “work time” during naps.
Like many in the online writing field have noted, things have changed quite a bit over the past couple years (the easy days of eHow articles that made thousands are long gone!) Sometimes we're tempted to give up, as if so much has changed that there is no way to make enough money working part-time to meet your needs. I can hardly believe that only 18 months ago I made over $5,000 during a month that I worked only a few hours a week. Those were the days!
hey ladies i’m a 6 months married stay at home wife, recently some major transitions in the family led me to need an income, i’m trying to figure out ways to make money that will appeal to my hobbies, i get depressed if i’m staring at a computer screen to long, and i need flexibility to match family hours, i’m really hands on, but don’t have much training in crafting. i like embroidery, i like art, i am trying to learn sewing and knitting, any ideas?
If you are worried about the financial implications of trying to find jobs from home for moms, then consider the success of some moms who previously earned up to $20 per hour but decided to leave their jobs and stay home with the kids. Since they have working partners, many of them have reported that they only need to earn $500 to $700 a month in order to make up the difference between their current income requirements and what they earned when they were working outside of the house. That is due to the fact that they no longer have to pay for childcare (or only have to pay a small amount), do not have commuting costs, and do not have to pay other work-related expenses like buying clothes, lunches, and coffee. Of course, how much you will need to make depends on the wage you earned before deciding to stay at home. But if you were making $20 an hour or less outside the home, then it is likely that, in addition to your partner's income, you could easily get by on $500 to $700 a month (or even less) if you are thrifty and find ways to save money.
it is good to start work from home jobs but today people mentality is like that they want always quick money and mostly cases they dont have enough time to read this kinds of article just they spin valuable post like this and searching on other site and also will comment how to make money blah blah but reality is that you must have to develop skills and learn many new things like freelancing and many more to earn from net somehow this is great post to make some cash from your home.

I was a virtual assistant for awhile. I was in Real Estate but decided it wasn’t for me because I was out and never home. I decided to start a Real Estate Virtual Assistant business and let all my Real Estate friends know about it. I was hired by a property manager and did all the work at home and got some work from other agents but then they started getting greedy and tried to lower my prices or get free work from me. I was making $15 an hour from the property manager (I was only inputting receipts and I’d update the MLS listings or put in new listings for her and answer calls for her) but then she decided she wanted to pay me $30 per month to do what I was doing plus show the rentals to prospective tenants (showings could last up to an hour per person..sometimes she got non stop calls about some houses)and deposit all the rental money (that takes hours because there were several different banks she’d have to go to)….I said No way and decided that business wasn’t for me. It’s not really hard to get into but be tough and stick to your prices and don’t get your business from friends (like I did) because then they expect you to give them a break.
Bookkeeper—Many small business owners require help managing their books, and they are often willing to take their receipts and financial information to bookkeepers working from in-home offices in order to save the large fees that can be associated with professional accounting firms. You could take care of general accounting tasks like recording financial transactions, producing reports and statements, and even processing payroll. Bookkeepers make $11.83 to $29.17 or more per hour, and it is projected that there will be 172,600 job openings.
Tutor—You might want to consider helping other elementary, high school, and college students with their studies if there is a particular field of study in which you excel. Tutors are needed for a number of subjects ranging from English and history to math and science. However, you will likely need someone to help take care of your kids when you have tutoring sessions since they typically take place after school or on weekends. Depending on the subject matter and type of student, you could earn anywhere from $9.00 to more than $40.00 per hour.6
I strongly suspected you had bought a house before you ever announced it after reading about your househunting. And I was sure you were not going to abandon Babywoods to daycare services and troop off to work. It may come as a surprise how much you bond with that little life once you can actually hold it in your arms. I remember crying all the way to work after dropping off my first baby at the sitter’s every morning. I was miserable. Fortunately we decided nothing was worth it, not even being poor if that’s what it took for me to be home full time. So I did get to raise my own children and be a homemaker. It is where this woman’s heart is. I am glad it is yours also. Babywoods is VERY happy about it, too!
What an awesome list! This is the first list I have come across that was helpful to me in more ways than just one. In a blog world of basically the same advice (start blog-get ads-get traffic, etc) I like that there are differing takes on what works, because each of us is different. I am just embarking on my WAHM journey, without much direction to be honest, and while exploring I found this article. It gave me some direction I was craving! Thank you! I even linked it in my newest blog post about my woes in generativity vs stagnation. 🙂
14.  Speaking of weekends, I know there’s a million birthday parties, church functions, friends to hang with, etc.  Pick one or two (at the most) outings & give your family time to recover from the week & for the week ahead.  I know this is a hard one, but stick to it.  You all need that downtime together–give it a whirl a couple of weekends and see how it feels.
IRC is searching for Market Research Caller candidates who can work from their homes. Candidates are paid an hourly rate, $15.00/hour, as an independent contractor and can work full or part-time. Your pay is NOT commission-based or dependent on the number of results that are developed. Please note that this is a business-to-business telemarketing position using our cloud-based telesales system designed for virtual agents. The position will require cold-calling our targeted lists using your own WINDOWS-based computer, computer headset and high-speed internet access. After training, the days and number of hours you work are flexible although you must commit to at least of four hours per day during the 5-day working week. Furthermore, the cost of daycare often sets families up for needing two incomes. Working full-time puts immense pressure on one’s time and makes it tempting to get on the paying-for-services train: take-out, house cleaners, laundry services, dog-walkers, someone to mow your lawn, and every other conceivable time-saving expense. And paying for all of this, plus daycare, makes us ever-more dependent on our paychecks. While it’s worth it if both parents dearly want or need to work full-time, it’s nevertheless a rude awakening of what we pay for the privilege of working.

When all else fails, YouTube is your friend. To eliminate some of the screentime mom guilt, I make sure that whatever they watch is educational, like Magic School Bus and Wild Kratts for the big boys, and Barney for the younger ones. My 6 year old loves to watch cake decorating videos. I suppose that’s educational in its own way – maybe he’ll become a pastry chef!
Not all tasks are created equal. I love Suzi’s post on how to be more productive about this. Every time you’re faced with a task, ask yourself–is it urgent? Is it time sensitive? How much time will this take me? You then use this information to structure your work hours. Figure out what’s urgent, what’s important (these are not the same things!) and prioritize accordingly.
Tiny house blogger/podcaster/entrepreneur/minimalist. It seems counter sometimes but if you choose to live in a smaller house you’ll spend a lot less to upkeep it and you won’t feel the need to fill it up either! Miranda is awesome and great to work with. She helped me redesign my site. I only wanted a logo and a few other graphics and she came up with the best designs just from me answering a few questions about myself, my business and my blog. Right down to the colors I was imagining in my head. She is fast and easy to work with. She knows here WAHM stuff.

Similar to a wedding painter, your job is to capture that magical day. Thankfully for those of us not good with paintbrushes, there is photography and videography. The time commitments are similar to a live wedding painter as your strict time commitment is attending the weddings. In this field, you can charge anywhere from $1000-5000 for each wedding. As you gain more skills and have more clients, you can change your price to reflect that.

Dog sitter—When pet owners travel out of town or work long hours, they often hire the services of dog sitters to make sure that their four-legged companions get some company and even a little exercise. As long as you and your kids love dogs and you are OK with welcoming them into your home, this could be a great earning opportunity. You will want to take a look at what is currently being charged in your area. Depending on your local market, you could charge $5.00 to $10.00 per day, per dog, for a visit to the owner's home or $25.00 or more per day if the dog is staying at your home.

Hi Patrick, thanks for the comment. You can start by looking in to some opportunities listed on this post. Then, you may want to set up a professional website for yourself to market your services. If you have experience in a particular field, you can start yourself to potential clients. If you don’t have any experience, you may want to do a few jobs for free to build up enough experience to improve your chances of getting hired. Good luck!
A blogging friend of mine recommended that I start doing VA work, like selling roundups and graphics on Facebook groups. I started to look into it, and the more I read about being a virtual assistant, the more I loved the idea! I had tried to do freelance writing, but I found it a little bit monotonous and I wanted to be doing all different kinds of things. I realized that all the skills I had learned to apply to my own blog, I could apply to other blogs and businesses!
Other things that you will need to consider while exploring stay-home-mom jobs ideas include making sure that your goals are realistic. You may not be able to find a high-paying, high-profile job as a stay-at-home mom. And you may not get rich by working from home. Some SAHMs or WAHMs (work-at-home moms) do create highly successful and profitable businesses, but they are often in the minority.

Tutoring. My friend Jenny tapped into a high-income community and used her teaching background to earn $40/hour helping with homework. The real money came when she bundled three kids together for group homework sessions, charging each family $25/hr. That’s $75 for an hour of work that can be done while your baby naps. Or, while you pay a teenager $10 to watch the baby in another room. This is one of those work at home jobs for moms that can be both financially beneficial and persoanlly rewarding as you help children learn.
“We understand that integrating writing into your life is about more than sitting down to write. … Succeeding as a writer in today’s digital world takes so much more: Figuring out how to work with clients, navigating the changing landscape of traditional publishing, learning the ins and outs of social media, growing a following for your blog and finding a community that will support you along the way.” — Alexis Grant

My kids are in preschool and school all day, but I still put them off and on the bus. And I can quit work the second they arrive home, go eat lunch with them at school, or take the day off when they have a snow day or school is out for some reason. I couldn’t do any of those things when I worked in a 9-5 job, so I am incredibly grateful. Heck, I could barely leave an hour early at my old job! Now that I am self-employed, I feel like my life is finally “mine.”

Sarah Titus is also a work at home mom who was able to make a full-time income from home, even as a single mom. She shares a mix of saving money, tasty recipes, DIY, and faith-based blog posts. When I saw that not only was she a single mom able to work at home mom, it also motivated me when she openly shared her trusting in God through the whole process as a Christian.

Thank you for your unselfish ideas and suggestions. It’s really a big help for people who wished but hesitant to jump in this kind of career, like me. I am a single mom, as in literal single/alone in all responsibilities. I wished to work from home so that I will no longer leave my daughter to our neighbors house when I need to go to work, but I am afraid to leave my current job and risk to a home base job for I think of the stability. I am afraid to put my financial responsibilities at risk, specially I have a child to support.

Most work-at-home moms don't start out with a full-time telecommuting position right away. The work-at-home lifestyle is usually something you build over time. In fact, you may need to build up your savings first. Plan to start small. If you're moving from the office to telecommuting, maybe try just a couple days a week at first to see how it works for you and your employer. If you're building a business, that takes time.

3. Online surveys—You can make some cash taking online surveys, and some people swear by it as easy work. But it can be very low pay when you consider the amount of time that you have to put into it. Some survey takers report making less than a dollar per hour. Before you commit to anything, make sure you read the company's privacy statements and disclaimers and conduct online research about them. Be especially cautious if you cannot find any information or reviews about them. It means that they may be an unscrupulous company that changes names often. You also want to make sure that you never pay any money in order to get started.

I did work for a while, and then I got married, but when our first baby came along, we couldn’t really afford for me not to work at all. So I started a small editing business from home, which allowed me to bring in a little cash and keep up my professional skills. After a while, I wanted more regular work, so I started doing online tutoring. I set my hours around my husband’s schedule, and it all worked well.
Regardless of whether the pace of change in the last decade is more or less than expected, the fact is telecommuting is not the only way parents have worked at home. It’s easy to think that the Internet gave birth to the work-at-home parent. Yet, long before the word telecommute was coined in 1974 (according to Merriam-Webster), parents of both genders worked at home. Women, in particular, did things like take in sewing or making handicrafts (just like today's Etsy sellers), watching other people’s children (like home daycare centers), run boarding houses (like being an Airbnb host).
If you are looking for an office job that doesn’t require you to go into an office, becoming a virtual assistant could be a great fit. Tasks will vary depending on the company but can include things like scheduling appointments, data entry, organizing records, email management, social media management and editing. Contacting bloggers, online companies and websites directly can be a great way of finding job opportunities, in addition to advertising in and responding to job boards.

I stayed home as a freelancer from when my daughter was born to when she was just over 2 1/2 (and we added a 1 1/2 year old to the mix too haha!). When my oldest was 2 1/2, I put them in part-time daycare to allow me more time to freelance and to get the kids some extra interaction. It does get a bit harder as they get older (at least in my case). And now, good grief, they fight alllll the time. My oldest will be 4 in a week and my youngest is now 2 1/2! They go to an awesome church daycare five days a week 9am – 1pm and I work full-time but am able to work remotely the majority of the time. For right now, it’s a perfect scenario for our family.
Did I find this article useful? Yes, yes and a resounding yes!!! I happen to have a friend from Florida who has been bugging me about an online income opportunity because she knows I am a freelancer who earns through online jobs. But since we live worlds apart, I just didn’t know how to help her. I am definitely sharing this to her and I am checking some of the things listed here too for myself. Thanks Alexa!

For many millennial women, staying at home is both a desire and a convenience, but it's not about having your cake and eating it, too. Taking care of a child is a full-time job and these women add more work on top of it so they can do more than simply survive and subsist. Millennial women are rejecting the status-quo pigeonhole of “mother equals homemaker” and are finding value in both caring for their families and holding careers.
Have a support system. You may be a stay-at-home mom with a job, but that doesn't mean you won't need occasional childcare. You might have a partner, grandparent, or another family member who can step in and help when he or she is not working. You might have another mom that you can swap play dates with. Or you may need to get a casual babysitter, even if it is a teenager who can come over after school or on weekends.
Let’s be real: Women will continue having babies and children will need help with homework. There’s a market for it and there always will be! If you have an empty room in your home or a love for children, this option might be perfect for you. Advertise yourself on https://www.care.com It’s a tough job, but with the right setup and experience, you could build a great reputation for dependable care in your community.
You also need to make sure that you are working for employers who are OK with you fitting your work in around the needs of your children. The best jobs for stay-at-home moms offer flexibility so that you are able to work before your kids wake up (or after they go to bed), from your phone at the playground, or during naps, free play, and TV time. And you will need to be self-motivated and willing to do whatever is necessary in order to ensure that your work is getting finished.
I am unsure as to whether this question is completely relevant or not, but: I am, or at least, would like to be a writer. I don’t want to sound overly supercilious, just truthful, but I have a great deal of talent and there is virtually nothing I can’t write. However, I digress. I recently wrote a short story, which, despite its length (9 pages) is really more like a sketch, but its very eclectic and general. What I want to know is where can I sell this story? It’s jocoserious and seriocomic and pseudoautobiographical, and while not overly sexual, does content overtly erotic elements, yet I’d never categorize it as erotica, which, though I can write, and good at it, I dislike to, viewing it as a diminishment and degradation of my talents; also, it’s trashy and overly simple: beneath me and all decent, talented writers in every way! lol.
English language teacher—Your excellent English-speaking and writing abilities could prove to be a valuable asset. When it comes to good stay-at-home mom jobs, online English language training could be the way to go. Parents around the world want their children to learn how to speak, read, and write English. As a result, many virtual companies have been established to meet this demand. You could get hired to teach English to international students even if you do not have prior teaching experience. And since you are often teaching students on the other side of the globe, you may get to work at night after your kids are in bed.
Since I had my first son almost 8 years ago at the age of 19, I thought I’d always be a stay at home mom. My mother had been a lawyer when we were younger, and she hated being away from us for so many hours a week. I’d kind of imbibed that thinking, and honestly, I never felt any burning need to “get out of the house”. To hang out with friends, maybe. But to work? I made a career out of being a SAHM. I followed all the mom blogs, I baked amazing cakes for my kids birthdays, I created a homemaking schedule, I meal planned, I made Mommy Camps for my littles complete with a schedule of activities and outings – I’m a Type-A perfectionist. If I was going to be a stay at home mom, I would be THE ULTIMATE stay at home mom.

We don’t have kids, but my two siblings have 2-3 children each and they have different solutions – a frugal one and a not so frugal one. Sister 1 bought a rather cheap home next to my mom out in the country so she watches the two boys 2-3 times a week at her house (one is not in school yet) while she goes to work. She also is a single parent. Sister 2 lives in a major city and has a nanny come three days a week for 12 hour days to watch two kids (costing $40k/year). They have super intense jobs with long hours. Now that she has a third baby, her nanny quit and they are having a hard time finding a (legal) nanny who wants to watch three kids for 10 hours a day. Maternity leave is over, they are in the middle of paternity leave, so they will figure it out soon hopefully! One staying home will not work due to the amount of student loans and mortgage they have. Different solutions for different people even in the same family. There there’s me; no kids, retiring early.

It's important to line up your day carefully, with set "office" hours. How many hours do you hope to work that day? When will you return calls? What can you accomplish while your son or daughter is coloring in the next room? You'll get more done if you work smarter, not harder, says Christine Durst, a mom of two in Woodstock, Connecticut, and cofounder of ratracerebellion.com, a site that helps people find work-at-home jobs. That said, one of the best benefits of working at home is flexibility, especially if you are your own boss. If your son or daughter is fussing during your office hours and it's a beautiful day, it's okay to push assignments aside and go to the park. You can catch up on work later when your cutie has settled down.

Great post! I LOVE my job as a Norwex consultant and that it allows me to be a stay at home mom with my 3 kids. So many awesome benefits like flexibility, free sign up and 35% commission make it the best job for me and my family! My favorite thing about being a Norwex consultant is helping others rid their home of chemicals and make it a safer place for their families.

Stay-at-home mom jobs are growing in popularity. In fact, the number of people who are working from home (an arrangement that is also called telecommuting) has been growing as more workers and employers realize the benefits. Overall, telecommuting eases traffic congestion and reduces our carbon footprint. Studies have also found that teleworkers can be up to 35 to 40 percent more productive than their office counterparts. Companies that allowed employees to work from home found a 63-percent reduction in scheduled absences, and almost all of the companies found that their employee retention rates dramatically improved.1
I’m a SAHM to two littles and I’m a consultant for Rodan+Fields. The doctors who created Proactiv now have an anti-aging pharmaceutical line. They were a #1 selling clinical line for Nordstrom’s before entering direct sales in 2008. This is the FiRST company with an established brand to ever enter direct sales. We get a huge amount of press coverage in major magazines and we were just named the fourth largest premium skin care brand in the U.S. after Clinque, Estée Lauder and Lancôme. This company is changing the face of direct sales as we know it. I would love to share more. teambarrett.myrandf.biz
Have you ever heard of an actuary? In the past, it was used to describe a person who analyzes statistics in order to calculate risks and premiums for insurance companies. However, the job title has expanded to include many more industries that can benefit from data mining and economic forecasting. If you have a degree in mathematics, finance or statistics, look into getting your license through Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) or Society of Actuaries (SOA).

If you're a good typist, you may be able to pick up a little cash from home using that skill. If you're a really great typist, well, then you may be able to earn some good money in transcription. In addition to general transcription, there are opportunities for transcribing in both the medical and legal fields. In some specialized fields, certification may be required.

I live with and care for my disabled mother in a wheelchair, and have since 2011, since I care for her and my son it’s very hard to get a job outside the home. My income is very limited and I have got scammed a lot of times on the WAH jobs that charge you a fee and don’t really work. If anyone can give me info on REAL and legitimate home jobs that do not charge a fee please email me info and help me out. cindy0579@yahoo.com
I am a stay at home mom of a 6 month old boy. I had to quit my fulltime job 2 years before I even got pregnant due to health issues. I decided to continue to use my college education and passions to bring in extra income. I became a Pampered Chef Consultant to help other busy women and men learn how to make quick and healthy meals. I am a Personal Trainer by profession so I also train clients in my home. I do photography sessions occasionally and I now babysit occasionally in my home! God is good. He provides when we give him our talents!
A desire for family flexibility remains the top reason why 90% of mothers work from home. The reasons why more women of this generation are staying home encompass both happiness and struggles to balance work with parenting. Some millennial women work outside their fields to get adequate part-time hours in by teaching piano, tutoring and creating a business built on their hobbies to make staying at home possible.

Hi Alexa, I just want to thank you sincerely for this article – it was such a breath of relief for me (in a BIG way)! I own a small business and am due soon and was hoping for a way to seek out an at-home supplemental income but was only landing on continual scams (and that’s from someone who considers themself a thorough researcher). Again, I cannot thank you enough for all the legitimate links and sources (finally!). I’ll certainly be sharing this article.

It’s not all bad, of course. I never have to miss anything my kids are a part of, and I do get to enjoy a lot of time with my little people. I have been forced to learn to compartmentalize my time and set clear boundaries, which is a good thing. I have had to learn not to feel guilty for working in front of my kids, though admittedly I still struggle with that sometimes. My husband more than pulls his own weight, so overall, the benefits outweigh the challenges.
Freelancer—Women who are skilled professionals (and have likely spent time working outside of the home in the past) can often become freelancers. What that means is you become an independent contractor and source work from more than one company (typically). You are not hired as an employee. You negotiate your pay (often by the hour or by the project), and you are responsible for paying your own taxes. There are many websites that you can subscribe to that connect freelancers and organizations in order to start competing for work. They include websites like Upwork, Elance, and 99designs. Some of the more common areas of sought-after expertise include:

Our child care arrangements have changed over the years – from Grandma, to full-time daycare, to being home with me while on extended maternity leave. The current arrangement is that the two youngest ones go to daycare three days per week. Mr. Smith (who makes less than me) stays home with them one day per week, and my mom helps me with them while I work from home one day per week. It’s not ideal, but it give us some semblence of balance, for now. Mr. Smith likes working – in construction. So while it might have made financial sense for him to stay at home, he can’t do his work while watching the kids.

Stacy: Ruthie, our youngest, likes to sit up at the table and listen and draw/color. Sometimes I put her in her crib to play with her toys. Before y’all send me angry comments, know that she likes being in there, I promise it’s not a punishment. And sometimes, hold on to your britches, I’ll even let her sit at the table with the iPad and watch Sesame Street. She learns the alphabet and her numbers watching this show so I stand by it. I watched Sesame Street as a kid and I turned out okay!
